Our Story
In 2000, the Martin County Preservation (MCPA) took over the building formerly known as the First Church of Christian Scientists. It was in extremely bad condition, with pressure from the city and neighbors to be demolished. MCPA organized a group of highly talented and dedicated volunteers to raise a substantial amount of money to save the building. After 40,000 hours of volunteer labor and a great deal of hard work, the building and stained glass windows were restored to pristine condition.
On September 15-16th of 2005 the building was officially dedicated to the citizens of Martin County and the city of Fairmont now known as the Red Rock Center for the Arts. Martin County Preservation Association then raised an additional $42,000 to purchase an antique Steinway grand piano for the Red Rock Center for the Arts.
